How old are you?

When it comes to asking questions, Reece has no shame. He barely bats an eyelash when asking rather personal questions to anyone. While visiting family in Pittsburgh, Reece started talking to my cousin's next door neighbor. He asked her how old she was and at first she figured he was asking how old her grandson was. He corrected her and said, "No I was asking how old YOU were!" she then looked a little stunned but proceeded to answer him anyway by saying 53. He then exclaimed, "Wow! You are a lot older than our van!" Oh Reece, first rule and very important rule when it comes to women...Never, ever ask their age...ever!! AND never say you are A LOT older than ________ ( and then insert my cringing facial expression)....  thank goodness she was gracious with him but she looked at Ryan like is he serious? Ryan then explained to her that Reece loves to know how old this is or how old that is and then compare. He already knows that I am older than daddy and I am sure that will come in handy for him someday. :)

...& while we are on the subject of Reece... he is clearly not a wallflower.  Im sure he gets that from his father.  Even when conventional wisdom would tell somebody to be quiet, he doesn't seem capable of NOT talking.  Another example of that happened today in a public restroom.  Ryan took Reece & Sofia to the bathroom and it was Reece's turn to pee first so he stepped up to the urinal and dropped trou (which caused sofia to snicker).  Standing at a kiddie urinal next to Reece was another little boy who clearly hadn't mastered the art of aiming just yet.  So Reece says "hey kid, you're peeing on your belt!"  Im not sure the other little boy knew how to respond to Reece, with pants on the ground, calling HIM out for peeing on his belt.  Too funny!

Arranged Marriage

Sofia and Connor have been friends since before they were born. My good friend Michelle and I were pregnant at the same time and due 3 weeks apart. Sofia was born on October 16th 2009 and Connor came 11 days later on October 27th (my bday!). I think he couldn't stand waiting any longer to see his girl Sofia. :)

Last night we met Connor and his sister Camille at the park, so they could get some energy out! Well it wasn't long until Connor professed his love to Sofia by saying in the cutest voice ever--I love you! I don't think she knew what he said at first or she was just playing hard to get. He then said it again not too long after. Sweet boy!

Here they are on the swings where he first said those three magical words.

Later on they were walking around holding hands and Sofia was definitely telling him what to do! She says and does the silliest things! Here it looks as if she is about to wring his neck!

Why?

Sweet, sweet Roman is starting to copy what Reece and Sofia say. The other day while I was in NYC, Ryan told me that Ro starting asking why?. He doesn't ask it after you tell him no or ask him to come hither, he justs says it randomly!
And when he says it his voice is high and he leans his head back. It's so darn cute! We are just waiting for the day when he begins to say the words pee and poo, like Sofia and Reece. That's another blog.

How many feet high is that bridge??

Reece loves bridges and wants to know how high up they are and if they are over water--how deep that water is. While I was in NYC this past weekend with some girlfriends I took some pics of the beautiful Brooklyn bridge. He was so excited when I sent the pictures to my mom for him to see! I think it's such a beautiful bridge! Here is a little bit of trivia...The Brooklyn Bridge clears the water below it by 135 feet (41 m) at mid-span. The towers of The Brooklyn Bridge are 276 feet tall or 81 meters.
Length of river span: 1595.5 feet
Total length of bridge: 5989 feet
Wdith of bridge floor: 85 feet
Suspension cables: four, each 15.75 inches in diameter and 3578.5 feet long, containing 5434 wires each, for a total length of 3515 miles of wire per cable
Foundation depth below high water, Brooklyn: 44 feet 6 inches
Foundation depth below high water, Manhattan: 78 feet 6 inches
Tower height above high water: 276 feet 6 inches
Roadway height above high water: 119 feet (at towers)
Total weight, not including masonry: 14,680 tons
